Companion Classes

Training classes generally run for 7-9 weeks and are normally limited to twelve students. Classes are held once per week Monday through Thursday evenings with some day classes available at different times of the year. Click here for the online class schedule.  Click here for  class descriptions.

Registration

Classes fill up quickly. Please register early. Registration closes on the class start date.

We do not currently offer online registration. Please complete the registration form and mail it with your payment to the address on the form.

Weather Policy

Any day that the Tulsa Public Schools are closed due to bad weather, the CDST classes on that day will also be canceled. In the event deteriorating weather situations in mid-day make the conducting of classes dangerous or the driving to class hazardous (i.e., tornado warning or ice storm) class canceling a bulletin or other information will be posted on the home page.

Recommended Class Order

Companion recommends that classes be taken in the following order. We also recommend that depending on your dogs age that puppy kindergarten, beginners and advanced beginners be taken by all students. This will help the dog build a solid foundation. You can then choose a specific area of interest such as Obendience, Rally, Agility, Conformation or Freestyle and progress through thoses classes.

Online Schedule

The online schedule is displayed in a very powerful and flexible data grid. It has many features that allow you to view the schedule in a way that best suits your needs. This data grid was donated to CDST by DevExpress www.devexpress.com

Below is a brief explanation of some of those features.

Rearrange columns:
You can rearrange the order of the columns by dragging the column heading to a specific position.

Sorting:
The classes are initially sorted by class name. A number has been added to the class name so that classes in a certain area such as agility will be sorted together. You can change the way the schedule is sorted by clicking on a column heading. For example if you wanted to see the classes sorted by start date you would click on the start date column heading. Clicking the same column heading again will sort it in reverse order.

Grouping:
You can group any column of the schedule by dragging the column heading into the gray area above the column headings. This will group all the classes by that column. Click the + sign to expand a group.

Filtering:
You can filter the schedule by any column by clicking on the down arrow in the column heading. You then would choose the applicable information. For example if you were only interested in beginners classes you could click the down arrow in the class name column heading and select beginners. The grid would refresh and only beginner classes would be displayed. Multiple columns can be filtered at the same time. The down arrow changes color to indicate that you are filtering on that column. To remove the filter click the down arrow and select all.
