Companion Classes

Classes generally run for 7-9 weeks and are normally limited to twelve students. Classes are held once per week Monday through Thursday evenings with day classes available on Wednesdays.

We do not currently offer online registration. Please complete the registration form and mail it with your payment to the address on the form.

Classes fill up quickly. Please register early. Registration closes on the class start date.

Class Descriptions Class Name: Puppy Kindergarten Length: 7 weeks Tuition: $60.00 Prerequisite: Written Proof of Shots and between 8 and 20 weeks in age at the start of the class. Puppy classes teach you how to train your new puppy. You will learn about housebreaking, crate training, biting and chewing, coming when called, and other fun activities.. Beginners obedience teaches you basic obedience skills such as walk on a loose leash, sit, lie down, coming when called, and stay. *** Do NOT bring dogs first night of class *** View Schedule for Beginners Obedience Class Name: Changing Social Behavior Length: 9 Weeks Tuition: $70.00 Prerequisite: Beginner Obedience or Permission of the Instructor The goal of this class is to help dogs get over issues that are keeping them from living "normal" lives or holding them back from the show or performance ring. This class is for dogs that have leash reactivity, people issues,issues letting owners touch them etc... The nature of this class makes the requirement that all dogs have a foundation in basic obedience ( sit, down, and a started stay and wait command) Handlers of dogs in this class must be over the age of 18. Beginner Obedience for small dogs. Approximately 15 pounds or less. Will follow the same basic format as the Beginner Obedience Class. View Schedule for Beginners Small Dog Obedience Class Name: Competition Obedience Length: 9 Weeks Tuition: $70.00 Prerequisite: Novice Obedience Advanced obedience class designed for those owners who know that they want to compete in obedience with their dog. Students need to be willing to practice with their dog in order to meet the goals of this class. Class will include extensive heeling practice using traditional heeling patterns as well as rally patterns such as 180, 270 and 360 turns, etc. View Schedule for Competition Obedience Class Name: Beginners Advanced Obedience Length: 9 weeks Tuition: $70.00 Prerequisite: Written Proof of Shots. Beginner Obedience. Beginners Advanced Obedience builds on the skills learned in beginners obedience. You will learn heeling with turns, halts, changes of pace, introduction to the figure eight exercise, and recalls with front sits. You will focus on handling skills and polish the figure eight, recalls, fronts, and finishes and knowledge of the rules in the competition ring. You will learn retrieve on flat, retrieve over jump, drop on recall, broad jump and out of sight stays. Open 2 is an advanced competition level class designed to polish and perfect your handling skills and your dogs performance. View Schedule for Open 2 Class Name: Utility 1 Length: 9 weeks Tuition: $70.00 Prerequisite: Companion Dog Excellent (CDX) Title. Utility 1 introduces all of the utility level exercises, both AKC and UKC. You will learn signal exercise, scent discrimination, go outs, directed jumping, and directed retrieve. View Schedule for Utility 1 Class Name: Utility 2 Length: 9 weeks Tuition: $70.00 Prerequisite: Utility 1 and Companion Dog Excellent (CDX) Title. Utility 2 builds on the skills learned in utility 1 and is designed to perfect your handling skill and dogs performance in preparation for the obedience ring. A class dedicated to teaching your dog to pay close focused attention on you while working using the clicker to shape the behavior View Schedule for Focus & Body Language Class Name: Rally 1 Length: 9 weeks Tuition: $70.00 Prerequisite: Advanced Beginner Obedience or approval of the instructor. Rally is a sport in which the dog and handler complete a course consisting of various signs of obedience training maneuvers. Rally 1 teaches the novice level signs and the handling skills needed to perform each exercise correctly. All the rally rules will be covered as well. Rally 1 will prepare the dog and handler to advance to upper level obedience or agility. You will learn how to polish your handling skills, footwork, and body language. View Schedule for Rally 2 Class Name: Rally Run Thru Length: 9 weeks Tuition: $70.00 Prerequisite: Knowledge of Rally signs and rules. Rally Course Run Through is for people who are showing or about to show in Rally and want extra practice running courses to keep themselves and their dogs sharp for competition. View Schedule for Rally Run Thru Class Name: Agility Foundations Length: 4 Weeks Tuition: $35.00 Prerequisite: Advanced Beg. Obed. Or Puppy K or Beginner Obedience AND the Instructor's Evaluation and Approval. Evaluations will be done the same night as the CGC and Show N Go This class will prepare the handler and dog to be successful in Beginning Agility. Skills include: clicker training ( student should have a clicker or purchase one the first night of class ); attention and focus, on lead control. sits, downs and come. Target and touch training to prepare for contact work. Inroduction to obstacles such as the ladder, wobble board and ramp. View Schedule for Agility Foundations Class Name: Agility 1 - Beginner Length: 9 weeks Tuition: $70.00 Prerequisite: Advanced Beginner Obedience Beginner Agility is designed to build a solid foundation for future fun in the agility ring. All exercises are done on leash. You will learn about dog walk, A-frame, teeter, box, table, weaves, tunnels, and jumps. View Schedule for Agility 1 - Beginner Class Name: Agility Handling Fundamentals Length: 9 Weeks Tuition: $70.00 Prerequisite: Agility 3 or Permission of the Instructor Using multiple jumps in different box or grid configurations (boxwork), you will learn how to perform every agility handling maneuver you will need on course. Boxwork is invaluable when learning to understand the dog’s most efficient path, straight lines, turns and changes of direction. In addition, each week different jump box sequences will be set up to focus on specific handling skills, such as front crosses, rear crosses, serpentines, threadles, push throughs, 180’s, 270’s, acceleration, deceleration and positional cues. All work will be done off leash, so handler must have control of their dog. Reliable recalls and stays are required. Dogs also need to have basic jumping skills. View Schedule for Agility Handling Fundamentals Class Name: Agility 2 - Adv Beginner Length: 9 weeks Tuition: $70.00 Prerequisite: Beginner Agility or Instructor approval. Advanced Beginner Agility builds on the skills learned in Beginner Agility and introduces off lead work. New equipment introduced includes the swing plank, sway bridge, crawl tunnel and spread jumps. Intermediate Agility polishes your off lead handling skills and introduces longer sequences of obstacles and short courses. View Schedule for Agility 3 - Intermediate Class Name: Agility 4 - Advanced Length: 9 weeks Tuition: $70.00 Prerequisite: Intermediate Agility and at least one leg toward an agility title or Instructor approval. The purpose of the Advanced Agility class is to refine handling skills while emphasizing consistency, accuracy and speed. View Schedule for Agility 3/Agility 4 - Intermediate/Advanced Agility Class Name: Agility - Weave Pole Training Length: 4 Weeks Tuition: $35.00 Prerequisite: Agility 2 or Permission of the Instructor This class is designed to provide instruction in the various methods used to train a dog to weave. Dog must have off leash control and have a reliable "come" in the presence of other dogs. This class will provide a different course each week for the students to practice. Both AKC and UKC courses will be set up over the session depending on upcoming trials and students needs and requests. Will cover circle work; straight line work; start line stays; target work and one jump exercises View Schedule for Puppy Agility Class Name: Teacup Agility Length: 9 Weeks Tuition: $70.00 Prerequisite: Dog must be 17" or less at the shoulders; Beginner Agility Agility class for dogs less than 17" at the shoulders. All teacup agility equipment will be introduced. Emphasis on handling skills needed when obstacles are close together. Introduction to some of the games played in teacup agility. View Schedule for Teacup Agility Class Name: Conformation Handling - Beginner Length: 9 weeks Tuition: $50.00 Prerequisite: Over 12 weeks in age Conformation Handling introduces you to what you need to know to get started showing your dog in the breed ring. This class is for registered breeds only, at least 3 months of age. View Schedule for Conformation Handling - Beginner Class Name: Conformation Handling Practice - Advanced Length: 9 weeks Tuition: $5.00 Prerequisite: Beginner Conformation Handling Advanced Conformation Handling Practice provides ring time for the experienced handler to exercise and enhance their ring skills. View Schedule for Conformation Handling Practice - Advanced Class Name: Conformation 101 Length: 9 Weeks Tuition: $50.00 Prerequisite: None Class for exhibitors who have never shown a dog. Also for young exhibitors who are interested in showing in Junior Showmanship. Will cover both AKC and UKC. View Schedule for Conformation 101 Class Name: Clicker 101 Length: 4 Weeks Tuition: $35.00 Prerequisite: None Clicker training is a training method utilizing positive reinforcement and a mechanical device that creates a click sound. The clicker enables the handler to give positive reinforcement at the precise instant the desired behavior is given. This is then followed by a tasty treat or a favorite toy. Clicker training is used to train the whales and dolphins at Sea World. View Schedule for Clicker 101 Class Name: Freestyle Practice Length: 9 weeks Tuition: $5.00 Prerequisite: None Freestyle Practice is an informal class time for those that are working towards or thinking of working towards competition in Freestyle events or to create demo's or routines for therapy dog work. Instead of formal instruction this class time is set up to allow fellow freestylers to work together and if needed to help each other learn new moves, to test out choreography and to basically act as a practice/support group. Throughout the year video dates are also set up to allow those who wish to compete by video. All levels of freestylers are welcome to participate however, it is suggested that students have a basic fundamental understanding of canine musical freestyle and a basic training understanding for methods of teaching their canine partner "non-traditional" moves.
