Companion Membership

CDST members and associate members reside in Tulsa and many of the surrounding communities. The many different and unique dog training interests of our members allow a wide curriculum of training opportunities at CDST. The classes are all taught by member volunteers that have trained their own dogs and have taken them to many different levels and types of competition. Such areas of interest and training experience as Conformation, Obedience, Agility, Therapy visitations, Tracking, Animal rescue, Rally, Free Style and Herding all contribute to the diversified experiences by our membership.

CDST offers several advantages to those that become associate members and hopefully desire and achieve full membership. However, membership in an establishment run only by volunteers such as CDST places burdens on all its members beyond just paying dues. Associate members are asked to help in various activities of the club. Helping in trials, meetings, hospitality, stewarding, and instructor assistance are examples of activities where an associate member may be asked to help. Every job in the club is done by a volunteer.

Members also enjoy a variety of CDST events, such as the spring picnic, Milkbone Classic Fun Match and the annual Christmas party.

  • An applicant must complete an Associate Membership Application with a signature of a sponsoring full member and pay appropriate fee.

  • Each family member must make his or her own application to attain the status as an associate member.

  • A previous full member or associate member that dropped membership in good standing may submit dues and an Associate Membership Application.

To become a Full Member:

  • Must have current associate member status when applying.

  • An associate member seeking a CDST full membership shall attend three (3) monthly club meetings prior to submitting a completed application and annual dues to the Treasurer. Application and dues must be received at least one week prior to the regular meeting where the application will be considered. Application will be read and voted on by secret ballot. Majority vote of full members present and voting is required for election to membership.

  • The criteria in the two previous bullets may be waived when the associate member submits a completed application and a request in writing that documents the reason to waiver either requirement and the waiver is approved by the Board of Directors. Majority vote of full members present and voting at the next regular meeting is required for election to membership in all cases.

Dues:

  • Dues are payable in July at a cost of $40 for single membership and $70 for a family membership. A family membership includes all members living in the same household and each will receive the same class discount as the member or associate member. The dues amount is pro-rated depending on the time of year you choose to join.
